Welcome to Spring Curling Season 2012!!

2012 March 9
by WayneGarman

Welcome back!!!  The second half of the Lone Start Curling Club’s season will start this Sunday, March 11 starting at 8:00AM.

This first session will be a combination event.  There will be an open house sheet so new people can be introduced to curling.  There will be education sessions on other sheets to help you work on your delivery sweeping or strategy.  And if you would just like to throw some rocks, there will be a sheet available for practice.

The charge for this session is $20.00 for members.  If you had a credit outstanding from the fall season, it can be used for this session.  For any new people, there is no charge, although donations will be accepted.

As a reminder, think of this session as starting 2 ½ hours early.  Firstly, Sunday is the time change …. spring forward everyone!!   Secondly, due to scheduling conflicts at Chaparral Ice, we can only have the ice from 8AM to 10:30AM.  So remember to set you clocks and alarms!!!

I will handle one house, where you can ask me any questions dealing with curling.  Strategy, delivery, sweeping, who will win the Brier or just about anything else is fair game.  So please come out and pick my brain.  Think of it as an interactive “Wayne’s Game”.

League play will resume the next Sunday, March 18, starting at our regular time of 9:30AM.

It is almost spring, and club elections are looming.  Our annual meeting will be held on Saturday, April 28.  It will be held at a park, so watch your email for details.   Elections include the positions of President and Vice President, as well as 8 board members.   So if you have interest in any of these positions, please consider standing for election.  A nomination sheet will be at curling for the next few weeks.

On a personal note, I will not be standing for election as President for next season.  As many of you know, my crazy travel schedule had me missing many games this past season, and prevented me from devoting time to this position.  I will however, stand for election to the board.

As always, feel free to send me your comments, questions, suggestions, criticisms or good jokes.  I welcome them all.  Good curling!!!
